Salt Lake County helps neighborhoods thrive by awarding federal Community Development Block Grant money to non-profit and governmental agencies for improvements such as:
- community facilities and senior centers
- parks and playgrounds
- streets and sidewalks
- water and sewer systems
These funds can also be used for social services such as:
- day care
- counseling
- youth center operations
- medical services
- domestic violence programs
- elderly services
- legal services
- economic development and job creation
Funding is intended to assist residents at or below 80% of the
area median income.
Salt Lake County's Economic Development Department also supports existing business and encourages new enterprise.
It is complimented by the County's Redevelopment Agency.
